Frequently Asked Questions.
Buylocal.ly provides a place where business owners can let people know if they are still open and what they are doing differently during these difficult times (reduced hours, now offering pickup or delivery, etc.). It’s up to businesses to add their details so that people can find and help support them however possible. If there are no results in your community, it's simply because no businesses in your area have added their listings yet. Please spread the word and get them involved so we can all help save local jobs!
Since it's up to each business to add their own business and information (as they are the only ones who know what adjustments they have made), the best way to get your community involved is by sharing buylocaly.ly with business owners in your area to get them to add their listing.
Absolutely - once you register, you may add as many businesses or locations as you need.
The purpose of buylocal.ly is to provide up-to-date information on a business' adjusted hours or services during the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Seeing as situations and government regulations are continuously changing on a daily basis, it would be very difficult for anyone outside of an organization to keep a business' listing up to date. With that said, if you are an organization that works closely with businesses in your area and are able to stay on top of changes, you are welcome to create an account and add businesses for them. If you would like to start with a bulk import, contact us by clicking on "Need Help?" in the footer and we will do what we can to help.
The intention of buylocal.ly is to help local economies survive the COVID-19 pandemic, which means supporting local businesses in an effort to keep jobs and businesses in our community. The strain on small businesses is evident. That said, many chain stores/restaurants are franchised and owned by local members of the community who also employ local people. The more businesses we support locally, the more jobs can be saved and the better the long term outcome for our communities.
Unfortunately, there is no way for us to know what adjustments each business is making, and as situations and government regulations continue to change on a daily basis, so we are unable to confirm the accuracy of the listing. We encourge businesses to log in and edit their listing if/when circumstances change.
